Prayagraj (formerly Allahabad) is home to the Triveni Sangam — the holy confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati. Every 12 years, it hosts the Maha Kumbh Mela, the world's largest human gathering.
Getting There by Cab
Bareilly to Prayagraj: 430 km, approximately 7–8 hours. Lucknow to Prayagraj: 200 km, 3.5 hours. Varanasi to Prayagraj: 130 km, 2.5 hours. The NH-19 highway is smooth and well-lit.
The Triveni Sangam
A boat ride to the exact point where the rivers meet is the centrepiece of any Prayagraj visit. Boats available at Sangam Ghat for ₹200–500. A ritual dip at the Sangam is believed to wash away sins accumulated over lifetimes.
Allahabad Fort & Akbar's Palace
The Mughal fort built by Akbar in 1583 stands at the confluence. Parts are open to visitors — the underground Patalpuri Temple and the undying Akshaya Vat (banyan tree) are inside.

Kumbh Mela
