Kasauli is a small, supremely relaxed Himachal cantonment at 1,800 metres — British-era bungalows, monkey-bar rock walks, and sweeping Punjab plains views. Close enough for a 2-day cab trip from Delhi.
Kasauli is Himachal Pradesh's best-kept secret. A colonial cantonment with barely 5,000 permanent residents, it has managed to retain its colonial character while remaining accessible from Delhi in about 5.5 hours.

Delhi to Kasauli: 305 km, approximately 5.5–6 hours. Bareilly to Kasauli: 520 km, 10–11 hours (typically 2-day trip via Chandigarh). Chandigarh to Kasauli: 65 km, 1.5 hours.
Why Kasauli is Different
The cantonment administration strictly limits development. No new large hotels, no loud bazaars, no honking tourist jeeps. The town is best explored on foot — a gentle 2–3 hour walk covers the main attractions.
Top Things to Do
Monkey Point: The highest point in Kasauli (1,600m). Hanuman temple and the only place you'll see a military radar station up close. Views of Chandigarh city 55 km below.
Christ Church (1853): One of the oldest churches in Himachal. Simple, beautiful, and always open.
Sunset Point & Lower Mall: An easy evening walk through deodar trees with views of the setting sun over the Punjab plains.
